Knitting 101: Beginner Series 1 Pictures etc.

Hello, everyone! We’re having a terrible backlogging of posts, but that’s because we were so busy planning our first ever workshop!! #exciting.  We had our workshop last May 23 in Tambahayan, Maginhawa! So what exactly happened in our journey? Well.

  1. Doing criminal things
    • Not that criminal. Just, you know, maaaaybe posting workshop posters on bulletin boards without permission. We’re so bad ass.
  2. Getting doted on by nice old ladies
    • When you chance upon the supplier giving her weekly lessons to her students and they discover these teenagers knit/crochet, expect to get doted on. Oh, and an old lady asked for Adi’s number (but not in the way you think, heehee.)
  3. Being an “adult”
    • When your actions reflect you and what you want your brand to be perceived as, you HAVE to act like an adult.

Or not. (No that’s not a wild animal, that’s Adi in his natural habitat: fiber.)

Aside from various things we experienced (anger! sadness! worry! excitement! fulfillment! banana!), the workshop itself was a blast!!
Students learned the very basics of knitting: casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off. They were also taught about the different kinds of yarns and needles they can use for knitting, as well as why we teach these lessons.

We at Twine + Sunshine believe in the power of creation, we believe in the power of being able to create something from our own hands. In the age of technology, it is important to keep the fire of crafting burning, innovating and remolding traditions and making them more relevant to our time.

Ang drama.

What I loved most about this was getting to meet other people with the same interests as we have, and hopefully expanding their interest with what we taught them. Hands were made to create, not destroy :)
Here are some pictures with Adi’s students!

Woo! Tiring but fulfilling day :)
